Tim Teabow, The Enigma The Media Can Not Understand
I think That I know why there is so much furore surrounding Teabow. One of the things he is criticized about is his publicity. The one’s who do the criticising are a part of the issue. It is great copy for the media to strap line an extremely high profile person and in doing so it publicizes them and also increases the person’s publicity, which in Teabow’s case is working against him. There is, however, one more reason that I haven’t heard anybody talking about that keeps Teabow constantly in the news. He's an anomaly. The media or the sports world doesn't get it. They can't believe that a tough hard playing UFL quarterback could doubtless claim to be a virgin with no embarrassment, and be a soft hearted caring person off the field.
Perhaps they're of the opinion a Christian is someone that is meant to be home on the lounger watching Billy Graham re-runs on the telly and certainly not a NFL quarterback. Much of the world has an erroneous concept of what Christianity is about. Christians are supposed to be meek, or put simply weak and boneless. That could not be further from the truth.
I had a pastor friend who was a previous Green Beret; another Christian mate, who worked for me, was a previous Military Ranger. I have two Christian mates who are retired colonels, one Army and one an Air Force pilot. Christianity is filled with bold folk. The prior century there was more Christians martyred for their stand for Christ than all past centuries mixed. The apostles of Jesus all died due to their Christian faith, except the apostle John who was exiled to a lonely island to live out the rest of his life.
Today courageous women and men go as missionaries to predominantly Muslim countries where sharing their faith is intensely dangerous and often gets them killed. I’ve got a missionary friend who has sacrificed his freedom to live in a communist country in order to share his faith with people hungry for the gospel yet under the bondage of communism. To be a Christian in the present time often brings dishonour. Christians are picked on and mocked by many. Christians are the bravest noblest folk I have ever known. I find it an honor to be connected with them and counted as one of them.
I like football but I’m not a progressive fan who believes it’s the most important thing in the world. It doesn’t mess up my day when my team loses; it’s merely a game. I think of myself as a fan of Tim Teabow who also doesn’t believe football is the most important thing in the world. Folk are way more important than a game. Tebow, together with his bravery, cares for people and tries in each way to make use of the platform God has given him to promote that cause.
How many of his critics anywhere near equals his contributions to the needy apropos money and private time? I haven’t any way of knowing but if I was to guess, I say it would be just a few or maybe none whatsoever.
Teabow does not need the likes of me to protect him. He’s got the courage to stand, and who he stands for has the power to guard him and continue to bless his life. I really doubt if he is ruffled much at all because of the people that make it their occupation to find fault with him. He almost certainly forgives them and offers a prayer for them. At least that will be in accordance with the kind of genuine person he is.
